Sharon S. Langella

South Portland-Sharon Soule Langella, 72, of South Portland, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2014, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with myelodysplasia. She was born in Lewiston, on November 1, 1942, to Elmer and Charlotte Soule. After graduating from South Portland High School in 1961, she went on to attend Northeast Business College. Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Don Langella, on April 20, 1964. They started their new life together in Chevy Chase, Maryland, where she worked for Riggs National Bank, in Washington DC. Before Don served in the army, they moved back to their hometown of South Portland to be closer to their family and the ocean. This is where Sharon continued her career as an executive assistant, working for Portland Savings Bank, South Portland School System, Dead River, and Leatherworks. During this time period, she also owned and operated Answer Phone of Greater Portland. At age 65, she retired from Lovell Designs as their office manager. Sharon was a hardworking, loving and supportive person and selflessly cared for her family right up until her passing. As an avid gardener, Sharon, was a member of the Osawantha Garden Club. Her love for the outdoors was evident by her travels to Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, California and her frequent visits to Sebago Lake and Old Orchard Beach. Her favorite pastimes included dancing, playing cards, going out to eat, as well as sitting on her front porch waving to the passing trolleys with her grandchildren. Sharons greatest joy was time spent with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Don Langella; three children, Denise (Langella) Morin and her husband Michael of Wells, First Sergeant Jeff Langella, USMC, and his wife Gina of Oceanside, California, and Gunnery Sergeant Joe Langella, USMC (Retired), and his wife Andrea of South Berwick; six grandchildren, Madison and Teddy Morin, Austin, Anthony, and Shane Langella, and Brody Langella; and her beloved cat, Zoe (who will definitely miss sleeping by her side). The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Jon Enemen of York Hospital Oncology and his compassionate staff, Cindy, Rose, Nancy, Jon, and Alan B. As well as the supportive team at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. Funeral services will be private. Sharons family will gather next spring to scatter her ashes at sea.
