Buxton - Carol R. Robinson, 85, passed away on December 23, 2024, in Portland. Carol was born on April 14, 1939, in Portland, the daughter of the late Adrian and Regina (Cormier) Bernier.
Carol attended Portland High School and later met her husband, Jerry, on a blind date. The two were married on October 7,1967, and shared a beautiful life together, making their home in Buxton for nearly 50 years.
Carol worked as a "Fancy Stitcher" in the shoe-making industry, first at the Songo Shoe factory until its closure, and then at Nike. After an early retirement, she embraced life as a homemaker, caring for her husband and home.
Carol was a gifted cook and baker; her family will miss her incredible calzones, fried chicken, shrimp sandwiches, and desserts, especially her cheesecake and cupcakes. All guests were always well fed, and they never left her home hungry!
One of Carol's greatest joys in life was spending summers at camp in Sandy River with her husband, Jerry, and her brother, Norm. She found joy in the peace and beauty of nature and had a special love for animals and wildlife. She fondly named a frequently visiting moose "Horace" and delighted in birdwatching and feeding chipmunks, or "Chippys," even teaching them to eat from her hand.
Caring, generous, and deeply kind-hearted, she had a natural ability to make others feel loved and welcomed. She was always giving, whether it was through her home-cooked meals, thoughtful gestures, or warm conversations. Carol will be deeply missed.
Carol is predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Jerald “Jerry” A. Robinson; sisters, Doris Macisso, and Irene Herrick; and brothers, Rocco DeLuca Sr. and Thomas DeLuca. She is survived by her siblings, Violet Marr, Norman Bernier, Anthony DeLuca, and Shirley and her husband Charles “Chucky” Pegg; special nephew, Rocco DeLuca Jr., and many other beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members.
All services for Carol will be held in private with her family; she will be laid to rest with Jerry at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
