Holding Maryjo in our hearts – As a young pediatrician first entering practice and joining Dr. Jack Mann in practice on Cottage Road in South Portland in 1986, I had the great privilege and joy of working with Maryjo for most of her 40 years as a medical receptionist. In many respects, she was the face of our pediatric practice being the first person to greet a child and their family upon entering the office and wishing them goodbye when leaving our office. She was always kind and thoughtful, but also bore the weight, and sometimes challenging task, of collecting payments when families were checking out of our office. She was always professional and full of grace. My fondest memories of Maryjo will always be her dry sense of humor with a lilt to her wry smile and a raised eyebrow. I will also hold onto the memories of our “office family” of Jack, Sarah, Rosemary, Joan, Linda, Maryann, Mary, and Judy. Maryjo was always very supportive of me during my career and our careers played out in close tandem, despite multiple office relocations over 40 years. I also had the great privilege and honor to take care of Ryan and Aaron during their “pediatric years” and see them grow into remarkable young men. My greatest regret will be not being able to attend Maryjo’s funeral services and share my heartfelt condolence’s directly to Bill, Ryan, and Aaron. God Bless you Maryjo and your wonderful family. Love, Jim
