Rosemary Nealand Welch

SOUTH PORTLAND - Rosemary Nealand Welch, 81, died on February 21, 2014 at home with her loving husband by her side. She was born in Portland on February 2, 1933, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Manning Nealand. She attended St. Dominic's Grammar School and was a graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1951. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1954 and was employed at Mercy thereafter. Rosemary married William R. Welch on February 23, 1957 at St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Together they raised seven children in South Portland. While raising a family, she continued working as a Registered Nurse, providing private duty nursing care in the greater Portland area. She was a special person, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always sharing her knowledge, wit and love of life. We have so many memories that bring a smile and show the wonderful person she was. She is survived by her husband William Welch of South Portland; her children William Welch Jr, David and his wife Mary Agnew Welch, Jane and her husband Stephen Locke Jr, Anne Maybury, Ellen and her husband Patrick Richards all of South Portland, Mary Jo Welch of Buxton and Peggy and her husband Denis Metivier of Manchester, NH; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, February, 25, 2014 at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.Online condolences may be expressed below.
