Rose A. Sipowicz

Rose A. Sipowicz, of South Portland, Maine and formerly of Augusta, Maine peacefully passed away on August 13, 2013. Mrs. Sipowicz was born in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of the late Franciszek and Michalina (Popowich) Ochmanski. Mrs. Sipowicz was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Augusta, and more recently of St. Bartholomew Parish, Cape Elizabeth. She attended local schools, and graduated from Cony High School and Gates Business College in Augusta. She pursued additional educational opportunities in conjunction with a banking career. Upon her marriage to Matthew F. Sipowicz of Buffalo, New York, she became a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for many years. At retirement time, Mrs. Sipowicz and her husband returned to the State of Maine. Survivors include her husband; three sisters, Mrs. Edward G., (Helen) Atkinson, Bath, Maine, Mrs. John J. (Emily) Quinn, Stratham, New Hampshire, Mrs. Richard A. (Elizabeth) Kidder, Ocala, Florida; one brother, Edward J. Ochmanski, Portland, Maine; several in-laws, cousins and many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sipowicz was predeceased by her sister, Mrs. Louis J. (Josephine) Barry, Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and four brothers, Frank J., Scarborough, Maine; Stanley P., Miami, Florida; Louis P., Augusta, Maine and Charles J., Vero Beach, Florida. Mrs. Sipowicz demonstrated a remarkable devotion to her family and was deeply loved and respected. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband, family and friends. A family tribute of thanksgiving for her life and a celebration of the resurrection will be private. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish Cemetery, Manchester, Maine. Arrangements of interment are by Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, Portland, Maine.
