Robert Stephen Bob Watson

CONCORD, NC- Robert Stephen Bob Watson, 65, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at his home after a two year fight with cancer. Bob was born January 1, 1947 in Portland, Maine, the son of Madeline Conley Watson and the late Robert Franklin Watson. He was a graduate of Mon Valley Catholic High School. He later attended Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Hancock Aircraft Carrier during the Vietnam War. He was an owner/operator of Bentleyville Telephone Company in Pennsylvania for thirty years. He then worked at Securus Technologies, Inc. until he retired. He was also a life member of the Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Dept. in Ellsworth, PA. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Andrea (Andy) L. Watson of the family home; his former wife, Carmelita G. Watson of Bentleyville, PA, and their three children, Babette M. Johnson of Cokeburg, PA, Robert J. Watson of Mount Pleasant, NC, and Stephanie J. Adamson and husband, Randy of Bentleyville, PA; two stepchildren, Kimberly L. Stilwill and husband, Michael of Cherryville, NC, and David E. Lanning and wife, Crystal of Angier, NC. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Nathan Watson of Denora, PA, Cody and Sarah Adamson of Bentleyville, PA, and Allyson Johnson of Cokeburg, PA, Corey, Jordan, and Weston Raper of Concord, NC, Brandon, Cameron Lanning of Angier, NC, and Colton Sowers of Denora, PA. Visiting hours in Portland, Maine will be held 2:00 4:00 6:00 -8:00 pm, on Wednesday, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at 12:15 pm, Thursday, at the chapel, followed by a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at Saint John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, South Portland. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or Hospice of South Maine, 180 U.S. Route 1, #1, Scarborough, ME 04074.Online condolences may be expressed below.
