South Portland\nIn Loving Memory of Robert "Bob" Horne\nApril 16, 1943 - January 15, 2024\n\nIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Horne, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Bob left this world on January 15, 2024, at the age of 80, surrounded by the love of his family.\n\nBob was born in Portland, raised in Redbank, South Portland, and from the beginning, he filled the lives of those around him with warmth and joy. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Dolores; his loving daughters, Michelle Huckins and husband Corey, and Nicole Horne and husband Chris Gorman; as well as his grandsons, Graham and Colby; and siblings, Richard, Janet, Fay and Candie. More than anything, Bob cherished his family and friends, and his love for them was evident in every moment spent together.\n\nA proud Navy veteran, Bob served his country with honor and dedication. He was not only a man of service but also a man of many talents. Bob was known for his handy and creative spirit; there was no problem he couldn't solve or project he couldn't tackle. He took great pride in his ability to fix anything, leaving a legacy of resourcefulness and resilience.\n\nBob had a passion for cars, particularly Chevys, and was a proud and loyal swap driver for Pape Chevy/Subaru for the past 18 years. Prior to Pape Chevy/Subaru, he worked at Jordan’s Meats for 42 years. \n\nBob enjoyed the thrill of snowmobiling through the winter landscapes, especially longer trips with his close friends. His love for the outdoors led him to countless adventures, whether it was at camp under the stars or simply savoring the beauty of nature. Bob found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life.\n\nBob's pride and joy extended to his daughters and grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. His legacy lives on through the memories of love, laughter, and the invaluable lessons he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.\n\nAs we mourn the loss of Bob, let us also celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many.
