North Yarmouth-Ralph W. Conant, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2022 with family by his side at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine. Ralph was born in Freeport, Maine on November 9, 1937 to the late Edgar W. Conant and Bessie O. (Stinchfield) Conant. Ralph grew up on a farm in Freeport, Maine and attended local schools there. He was a skilled woodworker who made custom cabinets and furniture and took pride in his work. His hobbies included bowling, shopping for new cars-specifically Ford Mustangs, watching the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, golf, and NASCAR. You would often find him watching western movies and the local news where he liked to keep up on current events. Ralph was an avid collector of all types of eagles, beanie babies and figurines, but what was most important to him was his family. He kept in touch with every one of them to see how they were doing, asking about the weather and to let them know he missed them and loved them. And, he never missed a holiday. He is predeceased by his brother Kenneth L. Conant who passed away March 4, 1971. Ralph is survived by his eldest daughter, Joyce M. (Conant) Karayinopulos and husband Jim, from Baltimore, Maryland, daughter Charlene A. Conant and significant other Danny Emerson, from South Berwick, Maine and son Ralphy W. Conant, from Westbrook, Maine, grandchildren Jason R. Pepin and wife Caroline Y., from Maryland and Jennifer A. Tufts and Nicholas R. Gratton, both from Maine. Ralph had one great-granddaughter, Iliyana S. Pepin who he often referred to as his sweetie. Ralph is also survived by his sister Mabel I. (Conant) Beckwith of New Gloucester, Maine, and eight nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Those who knew Ralph often referred to him as a very kind, friendly man who talked proudly of his family and who had a great sense of humor. At Ralph's request, there will be no service held. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, Maine. In lieu of flowers, Ralph's family asks those wishing to express their sympathies consider a donation in Ralph's name to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 390 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074
