Nancy was a graduate of Ste. Chretienne Academy and Mount Ida College. She was married to John C. Shirley for 54 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Andrea Shirley and Kathryn "Kat" (Corey McEntyre) Larsen. Nancy was a long time resident in the historic district of Salem, Massachusetts and retiring in the historic district of Portland, Maine. Nancy's early years were spent pursuing her passion as a teaching assistant in special education. Years later serving as a fine jewelry consultant. Nancy’s love of people and volunteerism continued at the House of Seven Gables and helping those individuals needing support in the cancer community as a 40 year breast cancer survivor. Her love of travel, dance, laughter, gardening, coffee and tea, and being with family and friends filled her life with joy. Nancy was celebrated in Memoriam at a private family service on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home in Portland, Maine. I’m so sorry to hear about your mothers passing is your morning paper boy, I would see her or your dad at least on a weekly basis your mom is always very cordial and I remember that she smiled a lot. We are suffering be over, and most importantly, miss she rest in peace.

Fond memory was on there 50 th anniversary Your sister Kat Made the celebration extra special , a Champagne dinner at the Chart house in Clearwater Beach and they danced the night away as if no time had passed , Your Mom the entertainer at a Amazing decorated family home wonderful meal and deserts.   7. Nancy and I met in ,6 grade and enjoyed friendship for many years. She was a courageous generous woman who was always impeccably dressed . Her home was always open for the Holidays. My entire family enjoyed her wonderful hospitality. I will miss her forever. Until then love to all. Janet

  8. I did not have the honor and pleasure of knowing Nancy, but almost feel as though I did, through Kat’s Facebook posts. I know how special she was, to have raised a daughter as sweet, kind, and wonderful as Kat. Rest in Eternal Peace, Nancy.

  9. My Mom & I had the great opportunity to travel together to Paris, London, Manchester, UK. Shannon, Ireland. San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, US Virgin Islands, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

    So grateful to have those adventures together! I know how much you loved to travel. I treasure the memories. Now you and Dad are soaring together.

  11. Andrea and Kat, so sorry for your loss. Your mom was always so kind and gracious, and patient with our teenage shenanigans. Nancy was such a lovely, welcoming person. My deepest condolences to you both.

  12. I had the pleasure of taking care of Nancy when she moved over to Assisted Living @ 75 State Street and was saddened to learn of Nancy’s passing.

    She was such a sweet and caring lady. Very friendly and loved being around people.

    She was so lucky to have a daughter like Katherine. So caring and compassionate.

    Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
