South Portland-Melissa Lynn Broderick Toomey, 47, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 30, 2022.\n\nShe was born in Portland, Maine on July 2, 1974 to Helen Spaltro and Steven Joy. She was educated in local schools, graduating from South Portland High School in the class of 1992. \n\nMelissa worked for Unum Insurance Company for more than twenty years as a project manager. She then worked for Ahold Delhazie as a Senior Project Manager and Agile Coach for the last four years. \n\nSurvivors include; her husband, Sean Toomey; mother, Helen Meehan-Selleck and her step-father, David Selleck; a brother, Gregory Joy and his wife Nicole, and their two children Brendan and Cody Joy. She was predeceased by her father, Thomas Meehan.\n\nVisiting hours celebrating Melissa's life will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A celebration of her life will follow at 12:00pm. \n\nA graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 10:00AM at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 881 Highland Ave, South Portland.
