PORTLAND - Maurice F. Joy, 76, of Francis Street, died Monday April 9, 2012. He was born on September 17, 1935 in Somerville, MA, the proud son of Irish immigrants, Maurice F and Margaret Lynskey Joy. Maurice spent his childhood in Boston, where he attended St. Peter's Grammar School and Rindge Technical High School. Maurice enlisted in the Air Force and served in Europe during the Korean Conflict. For 37 years he was associated with New England Wheel and Rim of Boston, working as the manager of the Portland branch. Maurice was the founder of the Portland Youth Hockey Association. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, and was an active volunteer with the St. Patrick's School as well as Cheverus and McAuley High Schools. Maurice was past Grand Knight of K of C Council 101 and was a 4th Degree member of Sebastian Rasle Assembly # 377. In 1992, he married Patricia McPartlan in a civil ceremony and later had their marriage blessed in a ceremony at the Catholic Church. Together they shared their lives traveling and just enjoying being together. Maurice is survived by his wife Patricia, a son, Kevin Joy and his children Zach, Abbey and Daniel; a daughter, Nancy Burton and her husband Michael and their daughters, Ashley and Kaitlyn, a daughter, Kathleen Joy; stepchildren, James McPartlan and his fianc(c)e Kaori,Robert McPartlan and his wife Karen and their Children Declan and Hadleigh; John McPartlan and his wife Denise and their children Kaitlyn, Cameron and Kyle; a brother, John Joy and his family, a sister, Anne Marie Ohlhauser and her family. He leaves ten grandchildren and was especially close to Kaitlyn, Cameron and Kyle McPartlan. He spent many happy hours with Declan and Hadleigh McPartlan whom he called his "Buddy" and his "Girlfriend". Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at 8:15 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 134 Congress Street, Portland.
