Portland - Mary V. Hubner, 82, died on January 17, 2024.
Mary had a had a full and vibrant life, surrounded by a loving family. She was born on Sept. 11, 1941 in Portland, the daughter of the late Carl A. and Catherine L. (LaRose) Hubner. She grew up in Portland with her 2 siblings and graduated from Portland High school in the Class of 1960.
She was hardworking, feisty, but would care for anyone in need. After high school her professional journey extended from working at Songo Shoe Company and B & M to her environmental services roles in Florida and Maine, showcased her dedication and adaptability.
Her hardworking and caring nature, along with her interests in gambling, racetracks, lottery, crosswords, and Elvis gospel music, reflect a unique and spirited personality. Her love for her pets, especially her dachshund, Yohanna, and four shih tzus, was heartwarming.
Mary was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Hubner. She is survived by her sister, Katherine “Kathy” Sampson of Portland; many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.

The dinner table was never quite as lively as when you sat down with Pop and Mary for a meal. Some of my favorite childhood memories come from dinner, followed by competing to see who could get the Wheel of Fortune puzzle first. I hope you rest easy Mary, I love you 💜
