Pennsylvania - Margaret "Peggy" Louise Carmichael, 79, died on November 6, 2022. \n\nPeggy was born in South Portland, Maine, on May 31, 1943, the daughter of the late Philip and Virginia (Urbano) Curry. Peggy married Arthur Willard Carmichael Jr. on September 11, 1965 at Holy Cross Church in South Portland.\n\nAbove everything else, Peggy loved spending time with family and she was thrilled to be able to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful Italian cook (who learned the Italian way of cooking, from her mother), who made everything from scratch, including her pasta sauce. Let’s put it this way, Peggy would never let you go away hungry, from her four course Italian dinners. Peggy enjoying having the family together for vacations, spending the day at the beach, or viewing Portland Headlight, with a yummy Italian sub, as the sun was shining so bright, on her. In her free time she enjoyed playing scrabble, working on word searches, crosswords, and reading. She will be greatly missed and loved by so many. \n\nShe was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Arthur Willard Carmichael Jr, two grandsons, and 4 great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Karen McNear and husband Lance of PA; Peter Carmichael and wife Shari IN; Daniel Carmichael of Portland; Sylvia Wahed and husband Kamran of TX; Sharon Carmichael-Leddy-Smart and husband Scott of South Portland; three siblings, Elizabeth Curry and husband Bruce "Steve" of South Portland, Michael Curry and wife Karen of FL, Ralph Curry and wife Moncia of Portland; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.\n\nA visiting hour will be held from 9-10am on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A funeral service will be held at 10am in the chapel. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
