Josh, please accept my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your mom. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. I first met your mom in 1974 when she was the head nurse on P-6 at MMC. She was only 4 years out of her nursing program, but lead with integrity, strength and of course a sense of humor! Her calmness under pressure was impressive! Peg was genuine and caring. She was wonderful person who uplifted those around her. Her values were conveyed to countless staff and patients. She was a wonderful role model and mentor. She was truly an extraordinary human being who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Peggy was such a bright light! She was the head nurse on the psych unit for my first job, and I learned so much from her….her compassion, her common sense, her advocacy, and her understanding of those dealing with mental illness. She had such a big heart and a ready smile; she loved to laugh and have fun! We enjoyed sailing out of Pine Point together in our Rhodes 19, and she and I tried to sort out the play Equus at The Theater at Monmouth! You helped SO MANY patients here on earth, lovely lady; you can rest now. My deepest sympathy to you, Josh, and to the rest of her blessed family. Love you, Peg . I will never forget you.

As a young and inexperienced psychiatry resident on P-6, I was always grateful for Peg’s advice and insights about what I needed to be doing for patients. And always enjoyed her sense of humor and candid opinions about the significant psychopathology of several of the male instructors! Not the greatest role models! We had some good times at beach parties after work in Cape E.! Thanks for your wisdom and helpfulness Peg! You are missed.. Jim Maier, MD

Peg was a colleague of mine at Maine medical Center. I was honored to know her and work with her in several capacities. She was always available for a consult or a listening ear when needed. Funny, bright and kind. She will be missed by many.
