Portland - Lorraine E. Welsch, 92, died on July 4, 2023. She was born on November 20, 1930, in Portland, the daughter of the late Russell and Grace (Mains) Conley. \n\nLorraine was a graduate of the Class of 1948 from Portland High School, she wedded the love of her life, Philip A. Welsch Jr., in Portsmouth, NH that same year. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and two wonderful sons. Lorraine's career as a licensed practical nurse spanned over 24 years at Mercy Hospital, where she touched countless lives with her warmth and professional dedication. Her passion for learning never waned, and she courageously returned to school to study at SMVTI. \n\nLorraine is survived by her two sons, Philip and Steven Welsch. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Philip Jr. A graveside service in honor of Lorraine will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street, Portland, Maine, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 1pm.\n\nAs Maya Angelou profoundly said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
