Cumberland Kathleen M. Lynch, 72, of Blackstrap Road, died on June 18, 2016, at her home. She was born in Portland on December 27, 1943, daughter of George Russell and Margaret E. (Sterling) Mulcahy. She grew up on Peaks Island, attended local schools and graduated from Westbrook High School. She later studied at Secretarial College and worked as a legal secretary for her entire career. She married James E. Lynch on April 20, 1968, and the two moved to Cumberland to start a family. Her first passion was horses. She and her husband owned and rode Arabian horses. She loved the outdoors. Her passion was looking for moose. She spent most of her free time gardening. She had many gardens with multicolored roses, gladiolus and vegetables. She enjoyed camping and fishing and sharing her love of nature with her family. She was always ready to travel to watch her grandson, Hunter, play hockey. She also loved to cross stitch and was always ready and willing to make up a new birth announcement for a grandniece or grandnephew. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Mulcahy. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James E. Lynch; daughters, Bridget Berryman and her husband Steven of Scarborough, Mary Lynch of Cumberland; son, James Lynch of Cumberland; sister, Susan McKee and her husband John of South Portland; brother, William Mulcahy of CA; grandson, Hunter Lynch; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2pm at Sacred Heart Church, 65 Mellen Street, Portland. Burial will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker, 172 State Street, Portland.
