Joshua L. Patterson

August 27, 1985 ~ September 23, 2016
Westbrook- Joshua L. Patterson, 31, died Friday, September 23, 2016, at his home, following a sudden illness. He was born in Dover-Foxcroft on August 27, 1985, a son of Dennis L. and Rebecca A. (Ronco) Patterson. He graduated from Piscataquis Community High School, class of 2003, and continued his education at the University of Maine, Orono, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Economics. While in Orono he was a brother of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He met his wife Jen while in college in 2005. He married Jennifer A. Pickering on June 18, 2011, at Jones Landing on Peaks Island. The two of them loved traveling and exploring. They were looking forward to a trip this winter and a lifetime of traveling together. After graduation he began his career as a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments and his office was in Kennebunk, Maine. Josh was an amazing and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He adored his 18 month old daughter, Aubrey, and could not wait to share all of his passions in life with her. From teaching her about the universe to taking her fishing, he was so incredibly excited about the future. He was an avid fisher, hunter and outdoorsman. Despite his suit and tie, he was much more comfortable in the woods. He loved snowmobiling trips, hiking and four wheeling. He was looking forward to his upcoming bird hunting trips with friends. His Octobers were planned years in advance. Outside of Jen and Aubrey, Joshs two best friends in life were his father, Dennis Patterson, and Daniel Macomber. He couldnt have asked for better friendships. He loved working on his land in Abbot with his father, and exchanging scratch tickets for cribbage games. Dan and Josh have made a lifetime of questionable choices and great memories together. He is survived by his loving wife Jennifer Patterson of Westbrook; a daughter, Aubrey A. Patterson of Westbrook; parents, Dennis L. and Rebecca A. Patterson of Abbot; three sisters, Stacey Nichols and husband Mike of Dexter, Colleen Patterson of Brunswick, and Amanda Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; mother and father in law, Daniel and Anne Pickering of Portland; brother in law, Daniel Pickering of Las Vegas, Nevada; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Visiting hours will be 5:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, at Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, at the Chapel. The news of Josh’s passing was absolutely heartbreaking. I know so many people hold onto memories of him dearly. I’ll never forget our first double date… Josh rode the train for hours on crutches, uncomfortable with his leg propped up, just to get to a Bruins game with us. The love he had first for Jen, then for Aubrey, radiated. He was a wonderful man who will be missed terribly by all who were lucky enough to know him. Deepest sympathies to you, Jen, your sweet Aubrey, and the Patterson and Pickering families.

My husband and I knew Josh through Edward Jones. We worked with him for several years on our financial planning. Josh was so knowledgeable and so generous with his time and his advice. A consummate professional and just an incredibly kind guy. We met with him last about a month ago, and he lit up with joy when talking about his daughter and his wife, and he was so excited about the plans they had for the future. We are heartbroken to hear of his passing and extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

To The Family of Josh Patterson: I just heard the very sad news of Josh’s passing. Sending my thoughts and prayers to his family. I met Josh through Edwards Jones and he was my Financial Advisory. He was a wonderful person and explained finances so I could understand them. We often spoke of our families and he of his wife and new baby, who he was extremely proud of. We also spoke of his land up Maine, as I was from a Town close by and we had many conversations of his love of the land and his family. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Nancy Needham

Joshy, this is not easy to accept. I’ve cried for you, Jen, Aubrey, your parents, your sisters. I don’t understand this. You have always been like a little brother to me. We grew up together. We saw each other get in trouble for stupid things. We had babies, became parents. I could see how much you loved Jen & Aubrey. They were your world. You are loved by so many, you are going to be missed by even more. I love you, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Be the guiding light and try to comfort your family, even just sending each of them a happy memory. Til I see you again little cuz!

Josh was a most amazing young man, far and away beyond his years…. a total professional, always so helpful and invested in the client that he was investing for… We are so very sorry for his wife , child, family, and friends, who will miss him dearly…. we will, as well… Please remember him the way we will, with a contagiously giant grin, sleeping at night due to his due diligence in investing, and the simple assurance of a firm and confident handshake…a most rememorable and wonderful man…..rest in peace and God speed, Josh……Mary and Selden Crocker, Kennebunk, Me….

To the family of Joshua Patterson ~Dean and I are so deeply saddened to hear this news. We worked closely with Josh over the last year and a half on our financial plans. He was so professional and knowledgeable. You could really tell he loved helping people. He spoke often about his beautiful wife and daughter. It hits home that many of our discussions were based on the future and I know he had great plans for his own. Josh left a positive influence on our lives and we would like to thank him for that. Jen and family,My thoughts and prayers are with you at this incredibly difficult time. Josh was a wonderful man and it was very clear that he was an attentive and proud father. I’m thankful I had the opportunity to get to know him a little through the years. It didn’t take much to get him to crack that great smile and that is something I’ll always remember. I hope that eventually time eases your pain and leaves you with nothing but beautiful memories to share with Aubrey.
