SOUTH PORTLAND - John J. Boyd, 81, of South Portland, died Friday, June 3, 2016 at Mercy Hospital. Born in Portland on February 20, 1935, John was the son of the late James and Margaret (Maloney) Boyd. He was raised in South Portland and attended Holy Cross School and South Portland High School before honorably serving in the United States Army. John retired from J.J. Nissan Bakery in 1986 after 30 years of employment. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and was an avid Yankees fan. He is survived by his siblings, James Patrick Boyd, Jr. and wife Marjorie of Virginia and Sister Mary Eunice Boyd, R.S.M of South Portland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, June 9 from 5-7PM at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at the Funeral Home on Friday, June 10 at 9AM followed by a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Rd., South Portland. Just found out that Johnny has joined our Lord in Heaven! I am sorry to hear this and know that he is at rest now. John had many people that cared about him and I don’t think he even knew how many. John was a good person with a big heart and he will be missed by all! Sorry again to just have posted but know that I cared for your brother and he loved his family dearly. Rest in Peace John!
