CAPE ELIZABETH - Jane (Janina) Mary Piszczak Radziucz, 95, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Born in Portland on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1920, Jane was the daughter of the late John Charles and Waleria (Saniuk) Piszczak. She was the first generation American in her family. Jane graduated from Portland High School Class of 1938 and was a member of their Reunion Committee up until the last few years. She began working as an executive secretary to the vice president of Nabisco Co. on Forest Ave. right out of high school. Jane married Joseph John Radziucz, Sr. on October 19, 1946 and had two children before returning to the workforce as a claims adjuster for Blue Cross Blue Shield, retiring after 25 years. While her children were young, she supported their teachers as an active member of the McClellan and Butler Schools PTA, serving as President for four years. Upon retiring, she kept busy sewing, knitting, crocheting for various organizations, hospitals and retirement homes. She made and donated infant hats, mittens, afghans and lap quilts. She was baptized in 1920 at St. Louis Polish Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Parish Council and served the Womens Society as president, vice president, secretary and treasurer over the years. She enjoyed working on the dances, picnics, fairs and church suppers. In her later years, Jane enjoyed gardening and cataloging the different type of birds that visited her bird feeders in the front yard. She is predeceased by her former husband, Joseph John Radziucz, Sr.; siblings, Michael Pistaki, Joseph Pistaki, Blanch Mleczko, Nellie Lukas, and Veno Cobisi. She is survived by her daughter, Penelope and her husband Leroy Kimball of Cape Elizabeth; son, Joseph John Radziucz, Jr. and his wife Caryn (Perry) Radziucz of South Portland; grandson, Aaron Radziucz of South Portland; Godchild, Waleria (Lukas) Swift of Cape Elizabeth; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and cousins. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday from 1-4PM at the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 9:15AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis Church, 279 Danforth St., Portland.
