SOUTH PORTLAND - Helen Louise (Brown) Perry, 84 of South Portland passed away peacefully on March 4, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born in South Portland on July 24, 1929, the daughter of Sarah Eliza and Axel H. Brown. Helen, also known as Honey, grew up in South Portland with her parents, two brothers and seven sisters. Always creative and full of life, Honey was a shining star. She loved to roller skate and performed in Boston. She was an artist by heart and would paint for her family. Her talents went on forever. She enjoyed riding bikes to Willard Beach and visiting her sisters. She would sing out loud whenever she cleaned and rocked her babies to sleep. Helen was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, sporting her cap and rarely missing a game. She greatly enjoyed her retirement and spending time with her family. Helen was a graduate of South Portland High School, class of 1949. She is also a Past President of the VFW Lady's Auxiliary Post #832. Helen was predeceased by her parents, two brothers Alfred (Bud) Brown, Robert Sterling and three sisters; Ruth Crocker, Peggy Davis and Sonder Place. She is survived by her loving husband, Walter "Bud", of 63 years. They were married on June 17, 1950. She is also survived by her sisters; Evelyn St.Jean of South Portland, M. Dorothy Duval of Scarborough, Beverly Colby of Casco, Viola Silver of Portland, and Helen's three children; Buddy Sandy of Buxton, Rick Mary of South Portland, Penny Danny Carrier of South Portland. She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren; Jamie (Marc), Nathan, Kristin, Meghan (Chip), Kait (Fred), Jordan (Jason), Kiley (Tony). She is also survived by her seven great grandchildren; Sage, Carmine, Sadie, Bella, Eric, Brynn, Declan and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the caregivers at Maine Medical Center, Cedars and Hospice for their compassion and dedication in caring for Mom/Gram. We Love You Mom, Gram, Honey and will miss you very much. Love you more. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway with a VFW Ladies Auxillary Service at 5:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street, Portland.Online condolences may be expressed below.
