Ernest R. Napolitano

GRAY - Ernest R. Napolitano, 84, of Shore Road, died peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with his loving family by his side. Ernest was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 5, 1930 the son of Joseph and Lena Gramaglia Napolitano. He graduated from Portland High School in the class of 1948. He enlisted and served in the United States Army. Ernest was married to Barbara Ann Desfosses. He worked as a boilermaker for Local #29 mostly in New England and New York. In his spare time he was an avid wood worker, an active member of the VFW and the American Legion, Malia Post. Ernest was a lifelong communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Gosnell Hospice House for the care they gave to Ernest. Ernest is survived by his wife of twenty four years Barbara Napolitano of Gray; a stepson Gary LaChance of Limington; two sisters Rita Cloutier of South Portland and Violet Schillings of Flordia; one brother Anthony and his wife Madeline Napolitano of Portland; two grandchildren Desiree LaChance of Limington and Brad LaChance of Gorham; two great grandchildren Issac and Madison LaChance; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, Maine. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 9:15am followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 72 Federal Street, Portland, Maine. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
