PORTLAND - Dorothy Arlene Virginia Kane, 87, formerly of Portland and South Portland, died Monday April 14th at Sandy River Center in Farmington. She was born February 2, 1927 in Portland, a daughter of Daniel and Mary "Minnie" Winifred Gato Kane. Dorothy attended local schools and was a 1946 graduate of Portland High School. Miss Kane was an office worker for a fish processing plant on the Portland water frontfor many years. Dorothy lived in South Portland for many years and was a former communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Miss Kane love animals and often spoke fondly of her dog "Buddy". She enjoyed reading and loved Irish music. She was well loved by the staff and residents of the Sandy River Center. Dorothy often sang Irish songs to her "family" at Sandy River Center. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Robert Kane and Harold Kane and a sister Mary E. Kane. Miss Kane is believed to be survived by a niece and two grandnieces of Florida. Friends are invited to attend a 9:00 a.m., Tuesday April 29th, Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
