Los Angeles, CA - Crystal Marie Gomes, 28, of Los Angeles, formerly of Saco, died suddenly February 21, 2012, in Los Angeles. She was born June 26, 1983 in Auburn, New York, the daughter of Edmund Bennett and Joan (Kuenzig) Gomes, Jr. Crystal's early schooling was in Norwich, NY. She was a 2001 graduate of Thornton Academy of Saco graduating with high honors. She graduated in the top 5% of her class and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa at Boston College in 2005 with a BS in Theatre Arts. She earned her MFA in Costume Design at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in 2011. Crystal worked in advertising for Time, Inc. including Fortune and Money Magazines in Boston. While pursuing her graduate degree, she began her career in costume design working as an assistant in the areas of theater, opera, film, television and fashion. Additionally, she acted in several theater and movie productions. This past summer, Crystal moved to Los Angles to pursue her career. She had just concluded working with Magnus Rex Production Company as a Production Assistant on the new Batman movie. Surviving are her devoted parents, Edmund and Joan Gomes of Saco; two sisters, Holly Kennedy and her husband David of San Antonio, TX, Sharon Latsch and her husband Harry of Yardley, PA; paternal uncle, Joseph Gomes of Windham; paternal aunt, Jean Fenton and her husband James of Cumberland; maternal aunt, Jeanne Power of Stamford, NY; maternal uncles, Robert Kuenzig and his wife Ruth of Washington Crossing, PA, John Kuenzig of Dyer, IN; step grandmother, Elizabeth Gomes of Portland; the love of Crystal's life, Hunter Seagrove of Los Angeles; five nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. . A brief time of prayer will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 2nd, at the South Portland Chapel. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be shared at the Ramada Inn Conference Center, 352 North Street, Saco.
