Connie Jean Henderson 1950-2021 SOUTH PORTLAND--Connie Jean Henderson, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in South Portland on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. She was diagnosed with late stage ovarian cancer in March, 2020. She was born in Houlton on June 21, 1950 the daughter of Donald J. and Marie (Parent) Russell. She grew up in Houlton and was a 1968 graduate of Houlton High School. She married soon after and raised her children. In 1995, she married the love of her life, Daniel Henderson. They had many happy years together. Connie was always a mother first and her children and parents meant everything to her. She always got her kids to all of the school activities that they were in. She loved singing Christmas songs with them in the car. She made sure they never did without. Connie was always a huge animal lover. She loved her cats and dogs and turtle. She enjoyed going out to eat with her children, going to the movies or watching a movie at home and reading her Bible or other books. She loved the ocean and tried to get there as much as she could to walk on the beach or sit on a rock to enjoy the view. She liked to find new places to go eat and enjoy a scenic ride along the way. She didn't travel much but did get to see Arizona. One of her trips was to Disney World when her whole family went. Most memorable were her two trips to Italy to visit her son and his family. She loved her cashier job at Shaws so much, she retired twice. She met many dear friends there. She was a true friend and loved them all dearly. She was a wonderful listener who would give advice when asked. She was truly a giving person who always took care of others before herself. She could be very saucy with her witty sense of humor. She brought a smile to all who knew her. Connie was a member of the Southern Maine Church of Christ of Kennebunk. She got to go there recently which made her very happy since she didn't go at all in the last year. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel. 2. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I am glad I had the opportunity to meet Connie a few times at her daughter, Kim Russell’s house during pampered chef parties and when visiting Kim, my next door neighbor. Connie’s a beautiful soul and a kind, sweet, nice, elegant lady. I see how her daughter, Kim Russell got all her wonderful qualities of kindness and good-nature down to earth beauty and soul. May Connie Rest in Peace among the heavens and be your guardian Angel. Diane Wright
