Charlotte Adelgunde Fischer

charlotte fischer
Charlotte Adelgunde Fischer was a caring soul who gave so much love to her children, grandchildren, friends, and family. She passed away from this world on May 8, 2022 at the age of 63. She was born to Grethe and Albrecht Fischer on June 8, 1958 in Schwürbitz, Germany, where she grew up on a beautiful farm with her siblings Bärbel, Hanna, Kurt, Gerd and Klaus. She moved to the U.S. where she studied and worked in graphic design. Charlotte later lived her life as an artist and environmental activist. She was a wonderful mother to her two children, Corinne and Trevor, and grandmother to Emiliano and Lila. Charlotte lived a full life and pursued many passions. She was a trained classical singer; enjoyed playing tennis at the Brattleboro Outing Club; and was an active member of the River Gallery School. She lived as a member of the Taliesin community at the F.L.L.W. School of Architecture, helped to teach art classes for veterans and suicide survivors at the Arizona Artists Guild, and sang in Valley Women’s Ensemble. Her passion for art, nature, and literature inspired her to create many children’s books. She helped to care for both of her grandchildren, passing on to them her love of gardening, cooking and art. Charlotte gave her full attention, passion, and love to all people, and living things selflessly. She will be remembered as someone who put love and care into the smallest details of life. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on May 14, 2022 at the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Cape Elizabeth, ME. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Audubon Society - an organization that mattered to Charlotte.

Guestbook

  1. I was saddened to hear about Chalotte’s death. I first met Charlotte as Corrine and Trevor’s young mother, so rightfully pleased with her two beautiful little children. Through the years, we interacted in many ways. When I think of Charlotte, the strongest impression is of her thoughtful generosity. As an artist, Charlotte paid close attention to detail. She liked to act out of very specific observations, and so tended to show up with unexpected, perfect offerings. Charlotte brought many refinement and beauty into the world hrough her various arts. However, her greatest art was her social art. We are lucky that she leaves behind a body of visual arts and her wonderful children, and now grandchildren. She will be missed and remembered with many a smile.

  2. I painted along side Charlotte for many years at the River Gallery School in Brattleboro. I quickly grew to love her tender and sweet soul as did my wife Lydia who was one of her teachers. We were so saddened to hear of her passing. Her laugh and deep spirit were so delightful. Our hearts go out to her family.

  4. A beautiful memory of Charlotte’s love of books and learning comes to mind. Years ago while living in VT, she welcomed our family while we were visiting with Gwen, Ron, Corinne and Trevor. At one outdoor gathering, I shared that I taught a global music program, including Germany. She gave me a couple of her favorite children’s books written in German and spent enjoyable time translating them for me as we shared stories. What a lovely gift of engaging time with her generous spirit! Another time, she invited our 3 young children to her home to meet her goats or sheep (my memory fails me) and feed them. The kids were delighted. May her kind soul rest in peace.
