PORTLAND - Bernadette Ann Jackson, 79, of Falmouth, formerly of Portland, died peacefully February 14, 2014 at Sedgewood Commons. She was born February 26, 1934, in Portland. Bernadette attended local schools and was a 1953 graduate of Cathedral High School. Bernadette worked as a payroll clerk for New England Telephone Company from 1954 to 1994, retiring after 40 years. She was on the grievance committee. She was a longtime member of the Telephone Pioneers; a longtime member of the Elks; "Maine Elk's Lodge #188". She enjoyed swimming at the Elks, dancing, bowling for the New England Telephone League for many years; attending church activities and family gatherings. Surviving are her cousin, Anna Strout and her husband Warren of Portland; her very close friend Sr. David Mary of the Sisters of Mercy, and many cousins and friends. Visiting hours will be held from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19th at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, with prayers being recited at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by an 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church, 307 Congress Street, Portland. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
