Aline A. Serabia

SOUTH PORTLAND - Aline A. Serabia, 90, formerly of Preble Street, died March 16, 2013, at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Center, in Portland. She was born in Sanford on November 17, 1922, a daughter of Hollis J. and Adrienne (Roy) Sevigny. She attended St. Ignatius Grammar school and graduated from Sanford High School, class of 1941. Aline worked at the Naval Air Station Brunswick for 23 years, retiring in 1982 as supervisor of the Keypunch Department. She then moved to Plain Dealing, Louisiana, where she was a familiar face working behind the counter at Walker Bros. pharmacy. She returned to Maine when she was 75 and worked as a volunteer at St. Joseph's Manor. She was a member of the civil service retirement group and a former communicant of St. Pius X Church and current communicant of Holy Cross Church. She was a devout Catholic, a staunch supporter of the Republican party, a caring friend to all who knew her, and a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two infant sons, Joseph Paul Serabia and Paul Nelson Serabia; a sister, Anita Denby; and three brothers, Harvey H. Sevigny, Paul A. Sevigny, and Raymond T. Sevigny. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Jo Dye of Melrose, Massachusetts; two sisters, Lucille Cronin of Portland and Annette Valcourt and her husband, John, of Norwich, Connecticut; two grandsons, Nathan Dye and Anthony Dye and his wife, Jessica; three great-grandchildren, Madeline, Alexander, and Nicholas Dye; brother-in-law, Roland Denby, and sisters-in-law, Marguerite Sevigny and Patricia Sevigny. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at St Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Avenue, Portland. Burial will take place at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford in the spring.
