Zelda Poliquin, 95, passed away on October 8, 2023 at The Lodges Healthcare in Springvale. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. She was born on April 4, 1928 to Florence and Joseph Stone in Sanford. She married her first husband, Homer Gauthier, and they shared many years together until his passing in August 1990. She later found love once more with her second husband, Joseph Poliquin, who she cherished until his passing in January 2005. During her career, Zelda worked diligently and rose through the ranks at Sanford Trust Company and later Northeast Bank, where she served as a Loan Officer and Vice President. Her commitment and dedication to her work were truly admirable. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, as she was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Sanford, where she found solace and community. But above all, what brought Zelda the most joy in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She took immense pride in being a part of their lives and watching them grow. Zelda is survived by her loving children, Tom Gauthier and his wife Pam (Lizotte) of Springvale, and Bob Gauthier and his wife Sara-Lea (Otis) of Sanford. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren, Kristen (Chris) Aaron (Kara) and Jayson Gauthier, and Katy Waterhouse. Her great-grandchildren, Canton, Kamryn, Cooper, Carson, and Karlea Hill, Chase and Orion Gauthier, Zack Height, and Reilly Morin, were the light of her life. In addition to her biological family, Zelda embraced her extended family. She is survived by five stepchildren, Janet Neal, Jo Anne Shatsky, Joe, Jim, and John Poliquin, as well as numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert, George, and Billie Stone, and her sister, Winnie Gilbert. She joins her brother-in-law, Armand (Gil) Gilbert, her sister-in-law, Pat Stone, and great-granddaughter, Kamdyn Virginia Hill, in eternal rest. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Fund at St. George's Episcopal Church, 3 Emerson St, Sanford, ME 04073, to honor Zelda's deep faith and dedication to her church community. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale, ME at 10 am on October 21, 2023. Family and friends are invited to gather after the service at the parish hall of St. George's Church for light refreshments, celebrating a life well-lived and the love that Zelda shared with all who knew her. The family would like to thank the excellent staff at The Lodges Health Care and Compassus Hospice, for the excellent care and comfort Zelda recieved.
