Yvonne M. Roy, 94, of Sanford passed away peacefully at home in Sanford on November 12, 2021.
She was born on October 16, 1927 to William and Lea (Nadeau) Cabana (one of nine children) in Sanford where she grew up. She graduated from Holy Family School in 1943.
On September 20, 1947 she married Lucien A Roy and they shared nearly 67 years of marriage until his passing in September 2014. Together they had 6 children.
Being a lifelong resident of Sanford, aside from raising her family she was employed at local factories, including Goodall Mills where she worked in the spinning room and then later after her children were older at Sprague Electric for 29 plus years as a pellet press operator.
Yvonne was a communicant of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. Church was an extremely important part of her life. She had served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Ignatius Church, was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne's, and other prayer groups including Little House of Prayer.
She enjoyed traveling, shopping, crafting, gardening, yard work, cooking and baking.
She especially enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was very social and loved to talk to people.
Yvonne was a very sweet and loving person. She was loved by many and will be missed.
She is predeceased by her husband Lucien A. Roy, and a son Raymond A. Roy, brothers Leo Cabana, Maurice (Moe) Cabana, Robert (Babe) Cabana, Wilfred (Mickey) Cabana, Roger Cabana and sisters Estelle Cabana and Irene Cabana as infants.
Survivors include her children Danny Roy and his wife Ginny of Lebanon, Dennis Roy and his wife Noelle of Sanford, Carole Kim and her husband Hyo of Olympia, WA, Sandy Tovey and her husband Mike of Sanford and Nancy Roberge of Waterboro, 14 grandchildren, Jason Roy, Dawn Roy, Brian Roy, Kimberly Patch, Allison Lingard, Jon Roy, Michelle Roy, Jennifer Froehlich, Kristie Kim, Kevin Kim, Christine Tovey, Kellie Childs, Jered Roberge, Aundrea Roberge and 8 great grandchildren, her sister Lucille (Cabana) Cote and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., Sanford with a burial at Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery immediately following.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.

Yvonne was such a lovely lady. I remember her trying on high heels at our daughter’s wedding. Whenever we saw her on our visits to Maine she warmed our hearts. She really seemed to enjoy life to the fullest! Our condolences to her family. May she rest in Peace.
