Yvette Rita Benson
March 26, 1928 ~ January 6, 2026
Yvette Rita Benson (Lussier), 97, of 15 Piper Shores Road, Scarborough, ME passed away on January 6, 2026 from natural causes.
Yvette was born on March 26, 1928 to Eva Regina Lussier (Roy) and Louis Arthur Lussier in Berlin, NH. She graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn, ME in 1946.
Before graduation, she worked her first job as an office clerk for the Auburn City Hall. She also held a secretarial position at the Androscoggin Insurance Company. After graduation, Yvette landed a full-time role with Prudential Insurance in Portland, ME.
In 1951, she met Frank Rochon, and they wed in 1953, going on to have four children, Paul F. Rochon, David A. Rochon, Janine M. Piras and Lisa A. Leatherbee. After their divorce in 1973, Yvette was employed at R.S. Means Company for five years, where she and the company grew exponentially. Ten years later, Yvette met a wonderful gentleman, John Moulton Benson aka “Johnnie B”, a former Boston Braves catcher. In 1980 the beautiful couple married with the participation of their adult children.
When Yvette had Paul, she decided to dedicate her life to being a loving and wonderful mother. Yvette excelled at propping up all the members of her family and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Throughout her many years, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others.
Yvette was passionate about music and when filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found humming tunes as the moment inspires.
Yvette was predeceased by her ex-husband, Frank Rochon; husband, John Benson and brother Robert Lussier. She is survived by Paul Rochon, David Rochon, Janine Piras and Lisa Leatherbee, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and various nieces & nephews. We will miss her greatly.
Our family would like to express our deepest and sincere gratitude to the Beacon Hospice team who got to know her well, the Nursing and CNA staff, for the loving care they provided, and the entire Piper Shores staff who made her life comfortable.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. Services are postponed due to the inclement weather.

Rest in peace, Yvette.
Yvette: The Lord has covered you with his light. Remain in our hearts to show us the way to the Kingdom of Heaven. You will be missed love you. Rest in peace. Luciano

Uncle John hit the jackpot when he met Yvette! They adored each other…what a blessing for them both. Aunt Yvette was a hoot, she had such a great sense of humor, and was my birthday twin! My mom, Betty, was especially fond of her, as was I and my sister, Cynthia.
Yvette was the best – always upbeat and full of fun. I will miss our semi monthly chats. She was a good friend as well as my aunt. Our very best to her family.
