Yvette R Gagnon

yvette gagnon
Gorham - Gagnon, Yvette Rose (Cloutier) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Gorham House, 50 New Portland Road, Gorham, ME, under Beacon Hospice care. She was born in Lewiston on May 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Amanda (Caron) Cloutier and Napoleon Cloutier originally from Quebec, Canada who settled in Lewiston. Yvette was raised in Lewiston and was a dedicated member of Holy Family Church. Yvette helped at her father’s neighborhood store, Cloutier’s Market, and was sorely missed by her dad when she began High School, enough so that she began working full-time until it sold years later. Yvette was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s at Holy Family Church in Lewiston. She sewed children’s pillows and aprons for the craft fair and found time to read to young children at a day care center. Her primary role as a homemaker was where she shined. She was very organized and efficient, and kept the house running smoothly. She was strict in the upbringing of her children but always fair and loving. Yvette and Roger raised their family in Lewiston until 1968 when they relocated to South Portland so Roger could be closer to his work. Yvette was employed by the State of Maine as a baker at Memorial Junior High School and South Portland High School. She retired the same year as Roger, and together they shared their love of being with family, travel, participating in a bowling league and playing golf. Their travel included fabulous trips including Paris, Hawaii, the Panama Canal, and Canada. No matter how big or small the vacation, they always had a good time. They shared a love of cooking and hosting, and Yvette was known for her home-made pie crusts for her pies, especially the Tourtière pies - a French-Canadian meat pie. Yvette lived a long happy life and was finally reunited with the love of her life, her beloved husband Roger, of 68 years. Roger died in 2009, and she spent the last 14 years talking about how much she was looking forward to seeing him again. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Roger; and two brothers, Bertrand, and Normand. She is survived by two children, Roger Gagnon of Limington, ME, and Linda Gagnon of Norwood, MA; her beloved sister Beatrice Caron of Lewiston, ME; as well as many nieces and nephews. Yvette was a devoted wife and daughter, and a deeply kind and loving mother. She was a proud grandparent to her 6 grandchildren, Michelle, Philip, Nicole, Joseph, Daniel, and Amanda; and 9 great grandchildren. There will be a brief viewing this Thursday, November 2, from 9:15-9:45 a.m. at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland, on Thursday, November, 2, at 10AM. 1. One of my best aunts, I use to call her and share Patriot Football stories. Every time I came to Maine to visit my dad in the nursing home in Lewiston I would make it a point to stop in So. Portland and pick her up. She loved the journey up there. We would also go to the chickadee 🐥 for fried clams.

  2. Met her at church and we became very good friends. We enjoyed going out to eat together. We used to celebrate our birthdays together. My husband Don was usually with us and we had a lot of good times.
