Yvette Bougie
Yvette Bougie, 100, of Sanford, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Yvette was born on September 5, 1914 to George and Emma (Laitres) Guillemette in Sanford where she grew up and attended local schools. She left school at a young age to help her mother care for her younger siblings and care for the home. In 1934 she married Alfred "Babe" Bougie and together they had three children and shared 58 years of marriage until his death in 1992. Yvette was employed at several places during her working life including Universal Shoe, the Goodall Textile Mills and finally at Vishay-Sprague where she worked for many years until her retirement in 1980.Yvette lived a life of charity and service to others. Over the years she took care of many elderly people both at her home and in the nursing homes. She spent hours every day visiting the nursing home and helping to care for the residents. She was an excellent cook and took pride in baking countless pork pies which she would give to members of her family to eat during the holidays. Yvette was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St Therse of Lisieux Parish and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She will be remembered as a loving and charitable woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Yvette was predeceased by her husband, Alfred "Babe" Bougie; three children, Jeanne Langlais, Jeanine Bougie and Patsy Bougie and 11 siblings.Surviving are three siblings, Beatrice St. Laurent of South Berwick, Benoit Guillemette and his wife Harriet of Sanford and Rose Methot of Belchertown, Massachusetts; three sisters-in-law, Domicile, Margaret and Cecile and many cousins, nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 31st at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 1st at St Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.
