Willie M. LaPierre

Willie M. LaPierre, 85, of Sanford, died on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Willie was born in Sanford on December 23, 1920 to Wilfred and Virginia Therrien LaPierre and attended Holy Family School in Sanford. He was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. LaPierre resided in Biddeford for 20 years where he owned and operated several variety stores. He also worked for 20 years as a nailer and trimmer at York Heel Shoe Company in both Biddeford and Sanford. He was most recently a resident of Sunset Tower in Sanford where he had lived for many years. Willie liked to spend a lot of his time watching television and doing jigsaw puzzles. His family was constantly searching for the most challenging puzzles they could find for. When he received these gifts, he would patiently work on them until he had finished putting the pieces together. Willie will be deeply missed by his friends and family.Mr. LaPierre was predeceased by his sister, Juliette Therrien.Surviving are a brother, Edmond LaPierre and a nephew, Mark Therrien, both of Sanford.Mr. LaPierre will be interred at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, Maine 04330.Arrangements are through Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home in Sanford.
