William Dean Rogers, 64, of Lebanon, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at his home. Dean was born in South Berwick on December 20, 1941 to Bernard and Dorothy Nutter Rogers. He was a 1961 graduate of Eliot High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Following his service in the Army, he enlisted in the Navy Reserves. While living in Elliot, he became interested in politics and served for a period as a selectman. Dean had worked as a supervisor at West Point Home in Biddeford since 2001. Prior to that, he worked for15 years as a Supervisor for Central Maine Power and 17 years as an engineer at Moore Business Equipment in Dover, NH. Dean and Nancy married in 1970 and together they raised two children. He was involved with youth athletics in Lebanon with his children and volunteered as a coach for little league and Babe Ruth league baseball. He was a member of the Berwick United Methodist Church where he would cook for their roast beef suppers. Dean liked to keep himself busy with various projects and activities. He particularly liked working around the house and maintaining the lawn and the woods around his property. Family was very important to him; he was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He always looked forward to and enjoyed family functions and gatherings. Dean will be remembered as a kind and loving man and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Rogers, of Lebanon; two children, Amy Adhaya and her husband Fred and Jason Rogers and his wife Ryan, all from Lebanon; three grandchildren, Ashley, Kyle and Ayden Rogers of Lebanon; his mother, Dorothy Rogers of Kittery; his brother, Ted Rogers of South Carolina; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Toothaker of Strong, ME; two brothers-in law, Coe Toothaker of Hawaii and Jeffrey Toothaker and his wife Karen of Winthrop, ME; two sisters-in-law, Lori LaPlant and her husband Rick of Farmington, ME and Shirleen Offermann of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering celebrating Dean's life will take place at the family home in Lebanon on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to the Three Rivers Land Trust, P.O. Box 906Acton, ME 04001, or the Maine Audubon Society, 20 Gilsland Farm Road, Falmouth, ME 04105. Arrangements are through Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale.
