William “Rick” R. Maines

May 18, 1965 ~ March 23, 2025

Born in: Landsthul, Germany
Resided in: Lebanon, Maine

“William “Rick” R. Maines passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at the age of 59.

Rick was the oldest of three children born to Jesse W. Maines Jr. and  Gloria A. Maines (Marks). Born in Germany while his dad served in the Air Force, Rick completed his education in the Portland, Maine school system and spent the remainder of his short life in Southern Maine. Rick worked in the lumber business most of his adult life and was employed by Gerrity, Lavalley Lumber, Deering Lumber, Brock’s and most recently Hammond.

Rick’s most beloved hobby was bowling. Many a Sunday was spent at Dover Bowl sharing league time with family and friends. His sons, Zachary T. Maines and Alexander C. Maines were brought up listening to thundering claps of downed pins, cheers of successful strikes and spares and the groan of (too many!) missed ten pins. He was fortunate enough to bowl the perfect 300 once – and it was a beautiful sight to see.

Rick enjoyed going to Bingo with his mother prior to her passing, frequently calling in sick to work to spend the evening at the Dover Bingo Hall. Rick and his then girlfriend Tammi were always willing to drive to the bingo hall with Gloria in a blizzard, even though it was too treacherous to make it to work!

Most import to Rick were his boys. His oldest, Zachary and his youngest, Alexander were his most treasured gifts in life and he looked out for them always. Rick used golf as another form of bonding time with his sons on their yearly vacations, trying to savor the same ball throughout the whole course to add to his collection of balls obtained during said trips. Rick was there for support, guidance and unconditional love even in the most difficult of situations and will continue to watch over them from above.

Rick is survived by both of his siblings, his two sons and one granddaughter, two nieces and one nephew. Although no longer married, Rick and Tammi remained friends and will always watch over their children together, one in body and one in spirit. Looking down from above, there is no doubt he is already so very proud of how they’ve come together to be there for each other.

Rick’s smile and laughter will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at the Black-Heald Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine 04083 on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 2 to 4 PM.
