William L. Prentice, 78, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at his camp in Northern Maine on Saturday, April 22, 2017.He was born on March 13, 1939 to Lawrance and Mary (Natalie Ames) Prentice in Rochester, NH. William attended school at Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg, Maine and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed at G.E. for 25 years as a maintenance technician and retired from there.He was a founding member of the Lebanon American Legion and was a Sergeant of Arms. It is said of him that "He was a service man who continued to serve long after the military".In his retirement, William was a volunteer at the Farm Museum in Milton NH, and would demonstrate how blacksmithing was done. He recently found a new hobby in visiting flea markets and yard sales. His favorite place to be was at his Downeast camp with his brother Pete. William had a great sense of humor and "the gift of gab". He will be dearly missed.William was predeceased by his wife Patricia Ann Prentice.Survivors include his significant other, Claire Johnson, a daughter Kelley McAloon and her husband John, a daughter Lori Prior, and her husband Alan, a son William Prentice and his significant other Ginny Lane, a grandson Marcellino Harmina, a sister, Mary Jocelyn Carver, a brother, Peter Prenice, and many nieces nephews and cousins.The family will receive relatives and friends for a time of visitation at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale on Saturday, April 29 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. A burial will take place at a later date.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to please consider the Lebanon American Legion, Post 214 at P.O.
