PORTLAND - William T. Gannon, 85, of Primrose Lane died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Gosnell Hospice House. His loving family was by his side. William was born in Portland, Maine on April 6, 1928 the son of James H. and Angela M. Leo. Gannon. He attended local schools and graduated from Portland High School in the class of 1946. On September 5, 1949 he married Eleanor F. Mulherin at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. William worked many years for Cook, Everett Pennell . He then went to work for the New England Telephone Company as an equipment installer and later retired from Verizon Telephone. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a long time communicant of St. Pius X Catholic Church. William is survived by his wife of 64 years; a daughter Anne M. and her husband Kenneth Clarke of Standish; a son James T. Sr. and his wife Suzanne P. Gannon of Cape Elizabeth; three grandchildren James T. Gannon Jr., Jennifer M. and Stephanie L. Clarke; a sister Margaret A. Doherty of Cape Elizabeth. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am on Saturday at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave, Portland followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.Online condolences may be expressed below.
