William Daniel “Danny” Nobert, 82, of Springvale, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
He was born on December 30, 1943, in Biddeford, Maine, the son of Francis and Anita (Petrin) Nobert, and older brother to Steven Nobert. Danny grew up in Sanford and was a graduate of Sanford High School in 1962.
Danny worked in a variety of manufacturing settings during the course of his working life, with his favorite role being as a shipping/receiving clerk. He retired from Wasco Skylights in 2010.
Danny fell in love with Germaine (Payeur) Nobert and they married on June 26, 1965. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2025. Danny loved Germaine beyond measure. Together they raised three children, Sandra, Jeffrey and Doreen and were active, engaged and loving parents.
Danny could often be found on his riding lawn mower in the summer months, tending his beautiful lawns, helping Germaine in their stunning flower gardens and making sure all of the bird feeders on their property were full to attract the songbirds they enjoyed watching. Many of Danny’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren affectionately called him Pépère tweet for the birds he enjoyed. Danny’s life was centered around his family and the wonderful life he and Germaine built as partners.
Danny and Germaine were well-traveled, enjoying trips to Canada, Costa Rica, Europe, and annual family winter get-aways to warm up in Florida, but he was most at peace at home, tending his wood stove in the winter, sitting on their front porch in the summer, and enjoying watching his beloved Patriots play football in the fall.
Danny’s Catholic faith was foundational in his life. He and Germaine were married at Notre Dame church in Springvale, where they were long-time communicants and more recently were members of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux parish. Danny lived his faith, in his tremendous kindness, compassion and generosity.
Danny was a long-time member of the Springvale Social club. He enjoyed a community of friends there and was involved in the many social and charitable activities. Danny also had an active social circle, with many wonderful friends with whom he and Germaine enjoyed spending time.
Danny was predeceased by his parents Francis and Anita, his grandfather Joseph and his grandmother Marie.
Danny is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Germaine, of Springvale; his children, Sandra Patch (and her husband Bob Patch) of Alfred, Jeff Nobert (and his partner Rynee Hascall) of Buxton and Doreen Riordan of Portland. He also leaves behind his much-loved brother Steve Nobert (and wife Donna), grandchildren, Hannah, Shelby, Katie, Jenna, Ethan and Ali and great-grandchildren, Miles, Ella, Cade, Lyla, Olivia, Elise, Severino and Blair as well as cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM om Sunday, March 29th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 30th at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish located at 66 North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be at a later date at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.

Germaine, My heartfelt sympathies to you and your family. I just had a short visit with Mr. Nobert this past Saturday. He told me many times over the last few years to call him “Danny.” I just couldn’t. It was always “Mr. Nobert.” I will treasure the many times he would stop by in the driveway when I was out mowing my own lawn. We’d chitchat about town stuff, and he’d comment on ways to improve my own lawn which was helpful. He especially loved the white and purple violets that would bloom throughout the front lawn in the springtime. Will miss waving to my neighbor.
Germaine I am so sorry for your loss. Dan was a very nice guy who always had a warm smile for everyone.
My dear Germaine, I’m so sorry for your loss. He was such a wonderful person. I will pray for you and your family. Love you Maurice Gouin
