William V. Carson Jr., 67, of Sanford, Maine, formerly of West Melbourne, Florida for five years, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on July 10, 2010 surrounded by his former wife of 40 years, Joyce Carson and his four children, Suzanne, Laurie, Cheryl and Michael.Bill was born in Salem, Massachusetts on February 11, 1943 to William V. Carson Sr. and Philomena "Phyllis" (Wisniewski) Carson. He was a graduate of Salem High School and was employed by the United Shoe in Beverly, Massachusetts for 18 years before becoming a truck driver hauling freight around the northeast and maintaining the greens at Major's Golf Club LLC in West Melbourne, Florida. Bill was an avid golfer and was a member of Cocheco and Sanford Country Club, he was also a member and former employee of Major's Golf Club LLC in West Melbourne, FL. Bill enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He was predeceased by his sister Joan (Carson) Violette on April 7, 1972 and his father William V. Carson Sr. on March 20, 2000.Surviving are his mother Phyllis of Sanford, ME; former wife of 40 years, Joyce Carson of Salem, MA; three daughters and their spouses, Suzanne Lambert and David Pierce of Shapleigh, ME; Laurieanne and Brett Emery of Salem, MA; Cheryl and Bob Huot of Sanford, ME; and a son, Michael Carson and his partner Casey Ellison of Sanford, ME; five grandchildren, Kyle and Adam Lambert, Tristan and Brendan Huot and Cassie Emery and many nieces and nephews. Bill also leaves behind many friends and family and will be greatly missed.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Thursday, July 15th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church located on St. Ignatius Street in Sanford.
