William W. "Bill" Shaw, 66, of Sanford, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 15th, 2015. Bill was born on May 27th, 1949 to the late Winston W. Shaw and the late Doris F. Pilon Shaw Littlefield. He enlisted with the U.S. Army at age 17 and served from 1966-1969, spending 11 months in Vietnam as a construction truck driver. After returning home he pursued his new found passion of professional driving. He drove tractor trailer cross-country and locally, and held various driving jobs for most of his life. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service until injury forced him into early retirement. Bill was a respected fourth degree Knight of Columbus, and was a member of many social organizations, most notably The American Legion and Elks Lodge. These organizations were the foundation of a long list of faithful friends. He spent his free time riding his Harley Davidson and watching the Pats, Sox, and Bruins with his beloved wife Donna Washington Shaw. He is survived by Donna, his daughter Tracy Shaw and her husband Rodney Sparkowich of Arundel; his brother John Shaw of Springvale; his sisters Nancy Jones of Sanford, and Debbie Johnson of Springvale. Bill cherished the time he spent with his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his four stepsons, Brian Letourneau of Sanford, Paul Letourneau of Saco, Jason LaPierre of Cape Neddick, and Scott LaPierre of Sanford. A graveside celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 20th at The Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Huot House for Veterans, Volunteers of America Northern New England, 14 Maine Street, Suite 301, Brunswick Me, 04011, telephone, 207-373-1140 and/or The American Diabetes Association, 1701 N.
