Warren H, Hilton, 79, of Banner Elk, NC, formerly of Sanford, died Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Life Care Center of Banner Elk. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Theresa (Plante) Hilton.Born in Sanford, Maine on October 14, 1926, the son of the late Winifred and Blanche (Creddiford) Hilton.Mr. Hilton attended schools in Sanford Maine and worked in his fathers lumber mill for years, delivered mail from Sanford to North Berwick, joined the Marines and served in Nagasaki, Japan, and finished his career with 35+ years of service at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire. His interests and hobbies included stock car racing and antique-vintage automobiles.He lived the past 12 1/2 years at the Life Care Center of Banner Elk, where he was President of the Residents Council. As an active member of all activities, he particularly enjoyed the multi-denominational religious services. He was a member of the Grace-Lutheran Church of Boone, NC. Warren's past affiliations involve Masonic Affiliations at Preble Lodge of Sanford, ME, Shriner's at Lewiston Kora Temple, Blue Lodge of Sanford, OES Clover Chapter#147 of Sanford, and a life member of the Ruth Capter#14 of Springvale ME, and raising his daughters through Rainbow for Girls to OES. He was also a member of the V.F.W in Sanford. He is survived by three sisters, Cora (Hilton) Hall of Sanford ME, Ruth (Hilton) and her husband William Hatch of FLA, and Mary (Hilton) and her husband, Dr. Lewis Schachne of NY; two brothers, Thomas Hilton and his wife, Lucille, of Sanford ME, Arnold Hilton and his wife, Dorothy, of Dover NH; one son, Robert Hilton and his wife, Mary of Sanford, three daughters, Barbara (Hilton) Moulton and her husband, Dana Walker Moulton III of South Berwick, ME, Patricia (Hilton) St. Pierre and her domestic partner Mark Binette of Ft Meyers, FLA, Nancy (Hilton) Levasseur and her domestic partner Kevin Newcomb of Westborough, MA, grandchildren include Natalie Levasseur, Dana Walker Moulton IV, Terri-Ann and Todd St Pierre, Mark and Michael Coburn; several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by granddaughter Nicole Levasseur (2002), and brothers, Alfred, Earl and Ray Hilton.A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 10 at 11am at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street Springvale, Maine.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: Hospice of Avery County, PO Box 1357, Newland, NC 28657.Condolences may be expressed at the tab at left.
