Warren L. Fredricks
Warren L. Fredricks, 86, of Simpsonville, South Carolina died of Monday, April 19, 2010 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina surrounded by his family. Warren was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 16, 1923 to Percy and Jeanette (Lloyd) Fredricks where he grew up and attended local schools. Following school Warren enlisted in the US Coast Guard and re-enlisted in The US Navy and served his country for the next 30 years. On December 8, 1946, he married Winnifred Johnston. The couple would raise three children and spend the next 55 years together until her death in 2002. Due to his military career, Warren had to move frequently and lived in many places including Massachusetts, Alabama and South Carolina. Warren was a very patriotic man with a deep love for his country. He was a talented craftsman and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and reading. He was also an amateur historian and was very knowledgeable in this subject, particularly in American history. Warren loved taking trips and spending time with his family in Maine. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a very outgoing person with a good sense of humor that allowed him to make friends easily wherever he went. He was also a very generous man and was an avid supporter of many charitable organizations. Warren will be remembered as a kind and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Surviving are three children, Frazer Fredricks and his wife Linda of Salem, NH, Winnifred Thyne of Lawrence, MA and Clifford Fredricks and his wife Robin of Simpsonville, SC; a brother-in-law Donald Johnston and his wife Nancy of North Andover, MA; eight grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 23rd at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine 04083. Interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery in Parsonsfield. Following interment guest are invite for fellowship at the residence of Donald & Nancy Johnston in New Field.
