  2. Hi Karen, Suellyn and family, I am saddened to hear of Walter’s passing. In the time we spent serving on the Portland School Committee together, Walter looked out for the interests of Portland’s students in a most sincere and genuine manner. He had an eye for detail and knew how to explore efficiencies in operations and savings in finances, in ways that did not jeopardize learning. He had a great sense of humor and good will. I have fond memories of him — of all my colleagues on the committee, I remember Walter as one of my closest allies and friends. I hope it brings comfort to you to know that his spirit and good nature had influence even to those of us whose interactions with him may have only comprised short chapters of his life. My thoughts are with you.

  5. Hi Suellyn. You don’t remember me but I knew your parents way back when you were just a baby. We lived across the street from each other on Pioneer Lane in Standish. We both moved away from there and lost contact. I saw your Mom one day in Cricket’s Corner in Raymond, where I was working. I believe she had done some acting at Lyric Theater with Uncle Don. Your parents always enjoyed talking with my then husband Bob, who was a meteorologist. I am glad dad lived to see your daughters and bet he loved them to death, just like he did you. He was just like a big teddy bear. Say hi to mom for me and take care.
