Wallace "Wally" Fisher, 83, of West Newfield, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford. Mr. Fisher was born in Needham, Mass., July 6, 1924, the youngest son of Harold and Lottie (Bell) Fisher. He was educated in Needham schools, but left high school during his junior year to join the Army during WW II. Following the war Mr. Fisher moved to Maine, where he worked as a logger in the Acton woods. He married the love of his life, Jane Turner, July 16, 1946 in Sanbornville, N.H. Mr. Fisher was a carpenter by trade, but also owned and operated WMF Stables for over 45 years in W. Newfield, where he bred and trained racehorses. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.He was predeceased by three brothers, Fred Fisher, Harold "Junior" Fisher, Robert Fisher and a sister, Mabel Fisher. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jane (Turner) Fisher of West Newfield; a son, William Fisher and his wife Ann of West Newfield; two daughters, Nancy Turgeon and her husband Rudy of Newfield and Joan Dyer and her husband David of Shapleigh; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Karen and David Tarbox of West Newfield, John Turgeon of Limington, William and Amy Turgeon of Shapleigh, Kim and Todd Ouellette of West Newfield, Susan Dyer of Richmond, Vt., David and Sasha Dyer of Barre, Mass., Zachary Fisher of Biddeford and Kyle Fisher of West Newfield; and 14 great-grandchildren, Katie, Hunter, Tyler, Aiden, Owen, Brock, Camden, Kalina, Carly, Kendra, Corey, Sam, Isaiah and Liam. A visiting hour will take place Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 from 3- 4 p.m., followed by a memorial service and reception, all to take place at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home on Main Street in Springvale.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Newfield Rescue Squad, P.O.
