Virginia Owen

Virginia "Ginny" Owen, 93, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2009 in North Berwick, She was born in Westbrook on March 18, 1916, a daughter of Pharmacist Fred and Edna Dudley Bartlett.She was married to Elwyn E. Owen and raised a family of seven children in North Waterboro. She had a lifelong love for animals with a special fondness for her cats. Cooking for family and friends was a favorite pastime and her specialty was cakes made from scratch. She regularly attended the Free Baptist Church in Limerick for many years.Over the years she enjoyed traveling to many interesting places including Hawaii. She lived in Connecticut for several years where she was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Education was very important to her and at the age of 74 she returned to school and obtained her high school diploma.She is predeceased by her husband, Elwyn who passed away in 1967, son, Lance who passed away in 2000, two granddaughters, Shannon who passed away in 1975 and Bonnie who passed away in 1996.She is survived by four sons, Mac Owen and his wife, Joyce, Elwyn Owen and his wife, Dottie, Forrest Owen and his wife, Annette, Fred Owen and his wife, Jackie, two daughters, June Broomhall and Ralphene Hebert and her husband, Pat, 22 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.A Graveside service for family and friends will be held on Wednesday August 19 at 10AM at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Waterboro.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
