Virginia "Ginger" H. Otis, 88, of Sanford, died on August 11 in Kittery at Durgin Pines in Kittery. She was born on October 25, 1930 to Ralph and Mabel (Noyes) Hall in Roxbury, MA.Ginger attended Nasson College in Springvale where she earned a Bachelor's Degree. She taught school early on in her marriage and worked in the office at Adams Trucking Company and Wasco Products. She then was employed at American Cyanamid/CYRO Industries in the shipping office and at the time of her retirement was an administrative assistant in the engineering department. Upon retirement from Cyro, she was the secretary at St. George's Episcopal Church and after 15 years, retired from there at the age of 80.She was a Past Worthy Matron and Life Member of Ruth Chapter #14 of the Order of Eastern Star, in Springvale.Once she became a grandmother she enjoyed dance recitals, driving her grandchildren to their many sports practices, attending many games and doing paper routes with the boys. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, playing solitaire or fish with the grand kids and singing in the choir. At the time of her death she had been a resident of Durgin Pines for four years. The family would like to thank the staff for taking great care of mom/Grammy/ GG during her years there.Ginger was predeceased by her parents, husband Charles S. Otis, and her sister and brother in law Jenanne and Bert Porter.Surviors include her children, Prescott "Otie" and his wife Deborah and Sara-Lea Gauthier and her husband Robert, her sister Barbara Clark, grandchildren Megan Canning and her husband Chip, Kristen Hill and her Husband Chris, Aaron Gauthier and his wife Kara, and Jayson Gauthier, great grandchildren Thomas, Canton, Kamryn, Cooper, Carson, Karlea, Chase and Orion, great great grandchildren Gabby and Ben, several nephews, a great niece and a great nephew. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 15 at 2:00 P.M. with an hour of visitation prior at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.
