Virginia Irene Lamb

South Portland - Virginia I. Lamb, 90, passed away on December 25, 2023, at Birchwoods at Canco, Portland. Born in Lisbon Falls on September 16, 1933, she was the daughter of Frank Goodwin and Ruth (Goddard) Small. Virginia grew up in Lisbon Falls, where she met and married her husband, Robert on April 9, 1949. Together, they would move to South Portland for his work. There, they established their home of nearly 70 years. Virginia was a faithful member of South Gorham Baptist Church. She was a homebody, and found great comfort in her own home; she worked diligently to create a comfortable space there; finding great joy in decorating for all seasons! When she wasn't tending to the house, she was a football enthusiast; she especially enjoyed watching her talented step-brother play High School football. She also followed South Portland High School sports. Virginia is predeceased by sisters Lucille and husband Robert Howe, Glenyce and husband Loomis St. Pierre; a niece Ellen Krauss, and brother-in-law Frederick Lamb. Virginia is survived by her husband of 74 years, Robert C. Lamb; sons Robert M. Lamb and wife Candy, and James A. Lamb. Grandchildren, Jeannie and husband Chris Crangle, Christine and husband Mike Titus, Robert J. Lamb, Jeffery M. Lamb, Jimmy Lamb, and Ryan T. Lamb and wife Megan; great-grandchildren Violet, Joanna, Colton, Aiden, Kaileigh, Cameron and Mikayla. Sister Shirley and husband Alton “Sonny" Wing, and sisters-in-law Gwendolyn Fineberg and Gloria Holland, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held in the spring of 2024 at Highland Memorial Cemetery, South Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker, South Portland Chapel.
