April 4, 1940 ~ December 21, 2014
Mr. Vincent G. Bouvier, 74, of Cape Elizabeth, died peacefully on December 21, 2014, at Sedgewood Commons, Falmouth, with his wife of 51 years by his side. Born on April 4, 1940, in Lewiston, Vincent was the son of the late Romeo and Blanche (Gervais) Bouvier. He graduated from St. Dominics High School, Class of 1958. Vincent received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1963 from University of Maine, Orono, where he was an active member of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity. Vincent wed Karin Amann at Holy Martyrs Church in Falmouth on November 30, 1963. After a brief period as an employment counselor with both the New York and Maine state employment services, he joined Union Oil Company of Maine, retiring as Senior Vice-President in 2005 after 35 years of service. Following his retirement, he donated thousands of volunteer hours, working in the museum at Portland Head Light and as a greeter at the Maine Medical Center, the latter of which he regarded as his retirement job. Vince was a hardworking individual who had an outgoing and gregarious personality. He loved sports, especially the Bruins and Patriots, and also enjoyed reading, especially by the pool in the summer. Vince and his wife loved to travel together, especially their many trips to Europe and points beyond. He particularly loved his visits to France, the country of his ancestors. Though he traveled far, his heart was always at home; Vince was, above all else, devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Karin Bouvier of Cape Elizabeth; son, Jeff Bouvier and wife Karin of Exeter, NH; daughter, Nicole Bouvier of New York City. Vince was my fraternity brother at the University of Maine at Orono. When I opened the paper this morning, my heart sank to the news of his death. I was struck by the phrase in the obituary “outgoing and gregarious.” I am pleased to know he never lost that characteristic. He was a good friend of my youth, and I will remember him always. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
