Tracey Lynn Plante, 65, of Sanford, Maine, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 9, 2025.
Born on April 27, 1960, in Manchester, NH, Tracey was the daughter of the late Gordon and Gayle MacInnis, and sister to Glen MacInnis. Tracey was a wonderfully unique woman admired for her strength, humor, and loyalty. Her family and friends knew her to be trustworthy, honorable, loving, smart, and truthful, handling life’s challenges with toughness and grace. Her greatest joys included building a beautiful home, gardening, warmly cooking and exploring new recipes—always eager to share delicious meals with her loved ones. She was an avid reader, continuously curious and interested in the world around her.
Tracey’s life was highlighted by significant milestones. She attended Quinsigamond College in Worcester, Massachusetts where she studied to be a Dental Assistant and then continued her education to become a Registered Dental Hygienist. She greatly enjoyed the connection she made with her patients and colleagues for almost thirty years until her retirement in 2023.
She treasured marrying her devoted husband, Paul, and took great pride in raising her two children, Rachel Benvie and Eric Lamson.
Tracey is survived by her husband Paul Plante, brother Glen MacInnis, sister in law Catherine MacInnis, daughter Rachel Benvie, son in law James Benvie, her grandson Oliver Benvie and son Eric Lamson.
Tracey dedicated herself to creating a warm and loving family environment. Her strength and toughness were matched only by her humor and loving nature, traits that endeared her to all who met her.
A memorial gathering will be held on July 12, 2025, at her home in Sanford Maine to celebrate Tracey’s remarkable life. Friends and Family are invited to join in remembering and honoring Tracey.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor her memory are encouraged to plant a garden in her name and or to make a donation to her GoFundMe page so we can place her name on a plaque overlooking the Atlantic Ocean from the Marginal Way. A dream she spoke of often as we walked there. Help support Tracey’s dream by clicking on the tab below.
