Thomas A. Vaccaro

Thomas A. Vaccaro, 76, of Shapleigh died peacefully at home with his family on August 6, 2010.Thomas was born in Salem, MA on August 26, 1933 to Atiglio and Elizabeth (McCann) Vaccaro, one of nine children. Tom worked for many years as an auto mechanic and was also employed for 15 years at CYRO and 15 years at Nexcycle where he stayed until his retirement. Tom enjoyed, hunting, fishing, gardening and collecting guns; he was a master fly fisherman. He loved nature and being outdoors. He would spend hours each day watching and feeding the birds. Over time he developed relationships with many of the birds and was actually able to have them sit on the brim of his hat and feed from his hand. Tom loved all animals and was particularly fond of his Springer Spaniel Nikki. Tom was very proud of his home of 34 years which he referred to as his "own little mountain." Tom will be remembered for his direct and honest manner and for his love of nature and will be dearly missed by his friends and family.Surviving are seven children, Thomas M. Vaccaro and his wife Tracy of Beverly, MA; Sharon Vaccaro of Peabody, MA; Richard Syzpt and his wife Debbie of Florida; his triplets, Mark A Vaccaro and his wife Stephanie of Epping, NH, Michael T. Vaccaro of Epping, NH and Melissa J. Vaccaro of Shapleigh, ME and Patti Sheehan of Florida. He is also survived by his caregiver, Buffy Young of Shapleigh, ME, 19 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and his dog Nikki.Visiting hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 10th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
